Experimental Portraits : Ally + Britt

In my van, driving down a tiny island two-lane road, I got a phone call from Ally. She had found an empty house that was being renovated by someone she knew (this is a trait of Ally's that I love, she somehow magically knows just about everyone in our small town). She informed me that the house had funky wall paper, some old furniture, lots of intriguing details, and she had thought maybe I would want to do a shoot in this old house. I jumped at the chance to shoot in such a unique space, and to try out some of the tactics I'd found in the last few months, but hand't had a chance to practice. Three weeks later, we were laughing and shooting our way through the home.

A dose of reality. I was having to do some interesting stretches to avoid both the mirrors and get the shot I wanted.

On my shoots, I find it best that everyone takes themselves very seriously. This marks the beginning of the more experimental part of the shoot, in which I messed around with a load of chiffon and light.

This made me think of the good ole surrealists. Also, this house had a ton of quirky fixtures, which made for a fun shoot!

We finished off the time with a ukulele serenade. If I can help it, I'd love to end all of my projects that way.
