Burk Uzzle, from Woodstock to Wilson

You can’t read this article here! You’ll have to hop on over via this link to The Bitter Southerner, but don’t worry there are no paywalls and no pop-ups. It’s a classy, story-based operation.

The article follows the life of Burk Uzzle, a photographer who began developing photographs on his parent’s porch, and ended up being the youngest photographer LIFE magazine hired. Burk’s career has led him to photographing empty fields and big cities, along with big moments of cultural shift including the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Vietnam War, and Woodstock (in fact, his photo is on the iconic album cover). After a long career out of state, Burk has returned to small town Wilson, NC, on a mission. What mission is that? You’ll have to read the article.
