Wedding Bookends

One of my dearest and best girls got married back in March. Being in the wedding makes it awkward to be a photographer, so I covered the day at its periphery — the beginning and the end. Was I surprised that my friend wanted to start her wedding day off by milking her cows? Not a bit. I arrived in muck boots just after sunrise, and stayed until the day was spent. It was one of those really good days, almost like we were stocking up for all the changed plans and weirdness of later 2020.

This was the one shot that I really, really wanted to get — modeled after a shot of her mom (in the same dress!) that I’ve admired for years.
