Welcome to the new home for Thistle & Sun! After over two years of diving in headfirst, beginning figuring out where my proper context is in the biz, and seeing more dos and don’ts from pure experience, it was time.
“What’s new?” you may ask. Well, you’ll notice the ‘photography’ bit is dropped from the logo. Have no fear, photography is still a very big part of my mission - but it’s now shared with writing, and I wanted to put it all under the general T&S brand umbrella in a less confusing way.
Speaking of the logo, note the ENORMOUS upgrade! My original was pulled from the only piece of clipart that I could afford when I started my business (so, free. I pulled a free piece of clipart from Google) - this one was drawn specifically for my business by my immensely talented friend, Kaylee. Thanks, Kay!
Other than some nerdy structural/polished things that won’t really impact your life, the new additions are some sections to the website: FAQ for most of your question needs, and Dear Reader, for the couple of times a year I would like to write directly to my five regular readers (hey, guys! thanks for sticking with me!).
Not to get all sentimental or anything, but I have a sense that this refresh on the website is a good metaphor to settling into where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to be doing. To those of you who gave me solid advice as I was thrashing around trying to figure everything out, to those who sent encouraging texts in all caps after practice shoots, to those who gave me a first shot, to those who graciously put up with my weird schedule/creative crises, to those who hired me as a stranger: thank you. And here’s to many more years of figuring out + creating together.
