This bride-to-be and I go way back - our moms were friends before we were even born and when it came time for them to have kids, I was born one month before Sam. Our friendship is one of those beautifully comfortable ones that can be picked up again wherever it was left off, despite busy schedules and crazy lives. For about two years, I'd been hearing about this guy. Whenever she talked about him, her eyes acquired this gleam I had never seen before. So, when Samantha's sister Erin contacted me to help Chase (the fellow in question) surprise Sam with this Christmas Eve Eve proposal I couldn't stop grinning, and I could barely keep it a secret. Hiding out and waiting for The Moment was like the most high stakes game of hide-and-seek ever, a game where winning meant seeing the look on Sam's face when she figured out what was going on. :)
Waiting in a nearby hair salon. We were all nervous, like it was us doing the proposing!
